About the
Therapist

Hi, I’m Cher

I am a certified speech-language therapist based in Singapore. I have worked with special needs schools & preschools, private clinics and served the community in charity organisations. I’ve seen my clients individually in their homes, preschools, clinic and virtually.

Why Sandcastles
& Stories

I absolutely love what I do, and love my  interactions with my clients, both young and old.

Apart from the most obvious joy of seeing my clients have “a-ha!” moments in therapy, I find it equally rewarding when I am able to help their caregivers and families. I set up Sandcastles & Stories because I wanted to be in a position where I am able to leave behind the need for quantity, and instead give every one of my clients the  the attention they deserve: high quality and customised support.

What I believe in

The nature of my work and its efficacy are heavily relationships-based, which is why I place importance on building positive and secure connections with my clients & their caregivers throughout our journey together. I believe interpersonal chemistry and a trusting relationship can heavily impact on how effective therapy is. My clients and their loved ones are individuals to me – not mere names & ID numbers on a screen, destined for cursory checks and cookie-cutter goals.

Giving back

Apart from running sessions, I enjoy providing training to Speech Pathology students during their clinical placements.

Another one of my personal goals is to set aside time to provide subsidised speech therapy to children who struggle to gain sufficient access to affordable and consistent speech therapy. This is my personal attempt to make a small difference to those who fall through the cracks in an otherwise supportive welfare system. If you know of a particular family who fits this profile, please send me a message about them and I will look into it.
