Teacher Cher, as we lovingly know her in our family, came like a blessing in a time when Emilio needed her the most.
We had been jumping around finding the right place for Emilio who at the time was still was non-verbal at 3 yo with the exception of some key words in Spanish. We had just moved to Singapore and we were looking for someone to support his learning, and in English, which was a first for him. There was no common language other than smiles to connect.
From there we have seen a nurturing and loving relationship that has been maintained even now with us moving away from Singapore. T. Cher has been fundamental in opening the door to communicating with Emilio and allowing him to flourish and fully be. He is now established in a mainstream classroom with peers of his same age group.
The level of dedication and tailoring to his needs and likes that T. Cher has been stamped on all materials, sessions, activities with him; she made the experience a joyful one for him. She’s gone into understanding climatological phenomena like hurricanes and tornadoes, testing her knowledge on the Singapore MRT system, figuring out F1 teams, racers and rules, going into the gaming world of Minecraft, etc.
She has been open and frank to us on how we have to work and support him at home, and she was also in working with his school on the side. She has gone through the won battles as well as the frustrations with us on the way. We are forever grateful for her support and help.
He loves T. Cher and we feel privileged to count her as part of our family.
